About us
Who are we?
The association brings together retirees, surviving spouses and active employees of Rio Tinto , participating in the Rio Tinto Alcan Pension Plan (RTAPP).

Our association was incorporated in 2001 and has nearly 1900 members.

The RCRA name and logo were used from 2001 until September 2019 to identify the association. Thereafter, we continue our operations under the name of ActiPension to better reflect the current and future provenance of our members.

ActiPension is funded only by the membership fees of its members.

The exclusive use of the masculine is only intended to make reading easier.
Mission
The mission of ActiPension is to defend the economic rights and interests of its members in matters of pension plan management, both with Rio Tinto and governments.
Vision
RTAPP participants join ActiPension because it is:
Able to represent them as a credible interlocutor.
Recognized for the results obtained.
Consulted by community stakeholders.
Values
ActiPension adopts social values that serve as guidelines for its administrators, staff and volunteers. These values are:
Ethics
ActiPension acts in compliance with very strict management and administration rules. As stipulated in the code of ethics for the Board of Directors, staff and volunteers, it also ensures the confidentiality of detained information and demonstrates great transparency in terms of its activities and its financial operations.

ActiPension behaves in a fair and honest manner. It avoids putting itself in a situation where it would be indebted to anyone who could influence it unduly in the exercise of its functions.
Respect
In the context of ActiPension's activities, members act with respect for everyone with whom they interact. They show consideration, courtesy, attentiveness and discretion towards others.
Equity
ActiPension members are considered with equity, impartiality and with all the attention they deserve. Any discrimination based on sex, age, ethnic or political affiliation, beliefs, etc. is
unacceptable.

Actions which could unfairly favor one person to the detriment of another are avoided.
Collaboration
Depending on their interests and availability, members of ActiPension are involved in different work teams to reach common objectives. They actively participate in the various assemblies.

In addition, ActiPension collaborates with other retirees’ associations in order to achieve its strategic objectives.

We embody these values as much among ourselves, members of ActiPension, as with the people and institutions we are working with.

Beginning of our association
Change of name
Our association brings together retirees and possibly active employees, whether they are managers, unionized or non-unionized employees, as long as they participate or have participated in the RTAPP. In order to better reflect this diversity, RCRA has adopted a new name and visual signature. From September 2019, the association is called ActiPension.
Adoption of Laws 195 (April 21, 2005) and 30 (December 13, 2006) recognizing the rights of equity for retirees, the obligation for the company to inform retirees about modifications or to consult retirees regarding the use of funds surplus.
Law-30 also grants increased powers to members of Pension Plan Committees.
Adoption in June 2008 of Law-68 which allows the association to obtain the consent of retirees members of RTAPP concerning their personal data.
Submission of a brief to the d’Amours report Parliamentary Commission (July 9, 2013): "Innovating to perpetuate the pension system"
